Task and Data Description, Submission Instructions, and Important Dates.
Ever since most of our interactions went virtual, the need for automatic support for smooth running of the online events, meetings became more intense. Summarizing meeting contents is one of them. Summarizing meetings in the form of structured minutes from speech can potentially save up to 80% of time. The First Shared Task on Automatic Minuting is aimed towards creating minutes from multi-party meetings. Minuting is closely related to summarization, however, both are not exactly the same task. Automatic Minuting is challenging in the sense that there is no universal framework for creating minutes and it varies across different types of meetings, subjects, and objective. Our shared task would consist of one main task and two supporting tasks for two different kinds of meeting scenarios (technical meetings and parliamentary proceedings). The technical meetings would consist of data in English and also in Czech. A closely related special session on Speech Summarization was carried out in 2006 with a focus on English. In the light of the increased dominance of deep learning and efficient language models in Speech and Natural Language Processing it is an exciting time to re-launching such a shared task effort. The objective is to rejuvenate the community interest to attempt this interesting problem and unfold challenges towards creating a unified framework for automatic minuting of meetings. AutoMin is an Interspeech 2021 satelitte event and is endorsed by the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA).
The official results of the AutoMin shared task can be found in our AutoMin overview paper on the ISCA archive. Please see the system description papers of our participating teams in our program page.
The second iteration of the AutoMin shared task will be held at the 16th International Natural Language Generation (INLG) Conference, 2023 as a Generation Challenge with an additional new dataset and an additional evaluation sub-task. Stay tuned for more updates on our forthcoming event. We will present the AutoMin-II Generation Challenge at INLG 2022.
The dataset used in this shared task has been presented at LREC 2022! Please see the official proceedings here. The full dataset is available here.
